Guns out

Hi all,

I wish someone took vids and pics of me doing my Clean and Jerks last night! Instead all I have on my phone is my attempts at learning how to swim...as coached by Nat! Well we got to do what we suck at!

Competition can sometimes have a negative connotation; that is people can have a negative association with competition. That's understandable. I've seen competition bring out the worst in people's behaviour. Case in point - just go watch a local under 13's league match at the park and you will be able to hear some really cruel and ugly stuff come out of the mouths of.....the spectators who are.. the mums and dads.

Competition however can help bring out the best in each of us. But we just have to approach it mentally in the right way.

Consider this - two people suck at the same sport.

Person A - chooses not to participate because they feel they are not good or good enough. As a result they will suck and "lose".

Person B - chooses to participate despite their weaknesses because they see it as an opportunity to learn and grow. They are aware of the fact that they may do as well relative to others, or relative to who they will become in time.

Who has greater confidence - Person A or Person B?
Who needs to squash their Ego - Person A or Person B?
Who is going to grow the most in time - Personal A or Person B?
Who are you - Person A or Person B?

It's not just limited to COMPETITION either. It's about EVERYTHING ELSE we have and do in life - family, work, relationships. Our attitudes determine our altitude.

thanks for reading and have a great weekend
